The use of an IP phone is one of the best of the business center solutions on the market today. An IP phone is an internet provider phone that uses the internet air waves instead of phone lines to transmit voice communication.

I remember the first time I used an IP phone for a call center job I had. I wasn’t trained at all. They just threw me on the sales floor and handed me the headset. I looked at the person sitting next to me with a look of bewilderment that would make Laurel and Hardy laugh. I proceeded to push what I though was the call button. Little did I know that it was the mute button.

So how does this present a business solution? Using an IP phone allows a business to make long distance telephone calls without paying the normal tolls. The nice thing about an IP phone system is you can use as many phones as you like without having to pay extra. Customers that are making incoming calls never hear a busy signal either.

Using an IP phone is also a good solution for any call center type of business. When you place the system into effect, it won’t matter if you have one person or thirty on the line. You will see that the program runs as smooth as silk.

Can you imagine being on the phone with a very important client and you are in the middle the biggest negotiation of your career and all of a sudden you cannot hear them? This scenario would be enough to make Donald Trump tell the phone company “Your Fired!” The great thing about using an IP phone as a business solution is not having to worry about dropping a call. You stay connected with that big client and all sorts of other people as well.

Some companies offer IP phones in two different packages that are structured for the specific needs of a call center. The first package choice is referred to as a hosted package. These packages offer non-server, plug and go features that makes this package ideal for smaller companies with less than 20 employees. The other package is a premise version.

This package is a little more technical than the hosted in that you have to install your own server in order to operate the system. Once you install the system though, it is easily managed and can handle up to 500 employees. If you choose this option, then you don’t even have to have the regular internet. You won’t have to worry on those pesky days when the internet is just plain unavailable.

New employees may find this system takes a little getting used to. The tangle of wires and all of the new equipment seems a little overwhelming. Walking into a call center they may feel a sense of hitting a wrong button and blowing up the world. Just reassure them that this is not the case and proceed with training. Your employee will end up being your best business center solution!

So what is VoIP? Internet telephony is a rapidly-growing phenomenon that shows no sign of slowing down. Keep reading and you will find out all you need to know about VoIP. Look at how this innovative technology has led to a revolution in the way that many businesses and home users are choosing to make telephone calls.

A VoIP phone allows real-time communication through the Internet. It can digitise the sound of a human voice so that it can be routed through the net. The development of this technology began way back in the early 1980′s when developers were looking for ways to communicate with each other via their machines. The technology was then adapted by the some technologically savvy sections of the business community who used data networks to route voice traffic.

However it is the growth of low-cost broadband Internet access that has really fueled the spread of Internet telephony and brought it into the mainstream. Anyone with a high-speed Internet connection can now use VoIP technology to make what seem to be very cheap calls.

In addition to these cost savings that a VoIP connection offers, there are other factors that make this technology so attractive to users. The versatility and flexibility of VoIP are examples of this. The software is location independent. So it is possible to relocate your home or business without having to change your phone number. With a USB VoIP phone you are able to make and receive calls on a laptop whilst away from your desk or use a wireless VoIP handset for calls in a public hotspot.

Ease of use is another reason that people have been attracted to VoIP. Users can often be put off from using new technology if they find that it looks difficult to use. This issue has been addressed by the developers and the era when Internet telephony was the domain of the geek is long past. Nowadays all anyone who wants to make a call has to do is pick up and dial. It really is as simple as that.

There are now a wide range of VoIP services available that would suit both business and home users. New services are being made available by service providers as the market continues to grow. As things stand VoIP stands alongside the traditional telephone network for reach and in many ways outshines it for versatility. Internet telephony looks set to continue to be one of the fastest-growing applications on the Net.

I hope that this article has given an insight into VoIP technology and the reasons why it is replacing the traditional telephone line in many offices and homes. Want to join the Internet telephony revolution? It’s your call!

Voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) is a remarkable technology that lets us talk to one another from our home computers. It provides an efficient and flexible way for us to communicate at work and at home, and the cost savings versus conventional telephone services are incredible. It requires little upfront investment, and you have the ability to travel with your phone number all over the world. It is a technology that almost seems too good to be true. As with any relatively new technology, though, there are technical kinks with VOIP that continue to need refining and development in order for the technology to reach its fullest potential as a replacement for the current telephone systems that we are accustomed to using.

At the beginning of a VOIP phone call, there is an analog phone (in use with an ATA), an IP phone, or software that converts data from analog to digital and routes the call to an endpoint. Along with these pieces of equipment, there are protocols that are employed to get the job done efficiently. A protocol is a set of rules that control data transfer between two points, in this case, from the placement of a phone call to the destination. Protocols are put into use by any combination of hardware and software to define real-time communications performance.

There are several VOIP protocols used at this time that mark out which programs (that transform the data) connect with one another along with the network. The most common protocol being used for VOIP is know as H.323, which was created by the International Telecommunication Union for the purposes of videoconferencing. This protocol is actually a group of several specific protocols that provide provisions for videoconferencing, data sharing, and audio transmission (VOIP). However, since it was not expressly designed for VOIP, there are often compatibility issues with its use.

A newer protocol has come out known as Session Initiation Protocol, or SIP. SIP was developed specifically for VOIP, and it is less complex than H.323. Yet another protocol used for VOIP is known as Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP). It focuses on destination control, and is intended to be used for supplemental features such as Call Waiting. A big problem arises because these three protocols do not always work together very congruently. This is often a problem when placing VOIP calls between different networks that use different protocols. And since there has not been yet developed a uniform set of standards for protocols to use for VOIP, problems are likely to continue until they are established.

Despite the technical glitches that can be encountered in using the technology to place phone calls, VOIP is still far more efficient, accommodating, and cost effective to what we are used to in telephone communications. The direction in which VOIP is heading hints that it is poised to one day replace our traditional telephone technology altogether. As with any technology-driven product or service, developers of VOIP will likely continue to improve upon current standards of VOIP and its protocols, further improving the technology for widespread use. This will provide users of VOIP even greater efficiency and reliability when they want to make a telephone call.

We all know how VoIP phone systems boost the growth for business. From keeping in touch with your business partners, to improving your coordination with your employees; VoIP can really get things connected. But, can we use it at home?

Though the home does not necessarily receive an outpour of calls per day, this does not mean that VoIP phone systems serve of no use here. This type of phone system has other practical specifications that allow it to be contributive to the management of the household.

Overseas calls are usually expensive. But with VoIP phone systems, people can minimize this problem. The sophisticated yet user friendly attributes of the VoIP phone system makes it more preferable to use against traditional phone lines, snail mails or emails. Adding to this, VoIP is also capable of live stream video for the pursuit of a more “intimate” conversation.

Basically, VoIP phone systems are not new to the office environment. With its money saving attributes and efficiency, many business establishments already consider VoIP phone systems as a necessity. But, these attributes can also be applied for home use.

VoIP phone systems allow people to confidently contact their loved ones abroad and engage in long conversations, without having to worry about the expenses. VoIP phones can cut as much as half off the usual overseas phone call rates because it makes use of the internet connection instead of traditional phone services. Now, there is no need to feel hesitant about keeping in touch with family and friends any time of day. You can engage in real-time conversations for as much as you want because the payment you will only worry about is the monthly internet service fee.

VoIP phone systems package voice messages in packets and deliver them to the other end via the web. This denotes that in order for this type of phone system to be utilized, the only requirement is a system connection and of course, internet access.

But this where the problems begins, with its easy access and simple interface, privacy are sometimes violated along the process. But there are already counter measures to avoid these scenarios from happening. Nevertheless, VoIP phone system is still a great mode of communication.

Basically, the major purpose of VoIP is to eliminate inconvenience and extensive phone costs of Packet-Switched Telephone Networks and make you more flexible in the communication process. This way, you can keep in touch with your loved ones in different places all the time. With all of these things considered, the VoIP phone system is a sure winner in practicality.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) involves the transmission of voice signals over Internet lines and data networks. VoIP allows users to place phone calls from just about anywhere using a broadband Internet. VoIP calls are placed using conventional telephones, computers, or special IP phone systems. Customers with computer-based services place calls using a microphone or headset.

Because of mobility, cost savings, and flexibility, millions of businesses have switched to PBX VoIP, with many more in the process of switching. The business VoIP industry has been projected to double by 2010. In most cases, Business VoIP PBX includes an Internet connection directing calls over a private network. A business VoIP PBX phone provides many advanced features that include desk to desk calling, quality phone calls, automated attendant, managing extension, and much more.

One important advantage of using PBX VoIP for businesses is the low long distance rates compared to traditional land line telephone services. This is important for businesses with employees that are located in many different geographic areas. Lower rates are the result of digital technology where users are on the same network even if they are in different locations. Also, VoIP providers do not have to maintain infrastructure like traditional telephone providers so the savings are passed on to the customer. VoIP consulting often use the savings to offer special features with no additional fees such as conference calling, follow-me call forwarding, voice mail, voice mail to email, and synchronized ringing of cell phones and home phones.

Another benefit to using PBX VoIP is its mobility. After a PBX provider installs the VoIP service, transferring phone numbers is as easy as unplugging the IP phone and plugging it into the new location. There is very little hardware and no expensive circuit reconfiguration. As well, employees who travel frequently have the ability to use the system no matter where they are in the world. They can answer the business phone from their cell phone or laptop. Some PBX VoIP providers sell “virtual numbers” that have other area codes allowing the customer to be charged for a local call.

As data based technology, PBX VoIP has a number of technological advantages. Some of these advantages include web and video conferencing, calls that are directed to an “Automated Attendant“ giving the impression of a much larger company, can be used to screen where calls are directed, and allows customer service representatives to see customer information when a call comes through allowing for a quicker and improved quality of service. PBX VoIP can also be programmed to block specific phone numbers, or place them on “virtual ring”, where the call does not come through. For faster payments, the credit card machine line can be left on 24 hours a day 7 days a week thereby delivering fast card number validations at a low cost.

Not only is PBX VoIP telephone systems cost effective, they help boost employee productivity. Some productivity enhancements include reducing the time it takes to connect with contacts, employees have access to a central communication location that consists of fax, email, and voice which allows them to instantly retrieve customer information, both landline and cell phones can be programmed to ring at the same time before going to voice mail thereby reducing missed calls, and employees have the ability to hold virtual conferences.

Switching to business PBX VoIP has never been easier and affordable. It is important for business owners to do their research to find the appropriate service and features to meet their company, employee, and customer needs. To succeed in business, keeping up with technological advancements is essential. PBX VoIP is one of those technological advancements. To help make the decision regarding the best PBX VoIP provider, businesses can use comparison resources , a shopping source for residential and business VoIP phone services.

by Boris Hiver

I’ll be honest with you – I don’t buy every single gadget that comes out into the market but I had to have a Belkin Wifi phone. In fact, I think I’m pretty discerning when it comes to my purchasing decisions. I have a long list of requirements to fit my lifestyle after all. And I have to say, the Belkin WiFi phone fits those requirements easily.

Say Goodbye To Contracts

I know I’m not the only one who hates cell phone contracts. In fact, when I lived in China, most people talked about how great it was to just be able to prepay for your minutes. Then, when you ran out, you just bought more. It’s easy and it works for everyone. But the USA has to complicate things needlessly and annoy us with cell phone company commercials too. Spare yourself the hassle and use a wifi phone so you can get off the contract and be free.

You Can Travel The World Easily

I love to travel. In fact, it’s one of the few things that I absolutely live for. But I also find it important to stay in contact with my friends while I’m away. With a wifi phone, you don’t have to worry about cell phone service providers and SIM cards. Since wifi is becoming common all around the world, you’ll never have a problem finding a place to sit and make a call.

Put Your High Speed Internet To Work For You

Stop losing out on the potential benefits of your high speed Internet. Using your Belkin Wifi phone, you can connect to your wifi at home and talk as much as you want. It doesn’t matter what time of day or anything like that. It’s ridiculous to pay crazy long distance rates when everything can be done over an Internet proxy. Making this change alone will save you tons of money.

Not every cell phone gadget is going to be your dream one. For me, the Belkin Wifi phone certainly is especially since I can’t stomach the idea of cell phone contracts and letting a cell phone company own me for a year. The only downside of this phone is that the battery does go quickly but you can always recharge it while you’re not using it.

Q: How do I know if someone is eavesdropping on the call? A: It’s simple. As the conference organiser, you are given the control through passwords and audit capabilities to check, monitor and administer access privileges so that the conference call runs smoothly.

Q: Surely its better to have a face to face meeting than a conference call? A: It really depends how you use it. We wouldnt suggest having conference calls instead of every meeting, however, it is a very economical and practical way to discuss projects, campaigns, training etc. For instance, we have our sales meeting by conference call every Monday morning. This ensures our time is not wasted in commuting and we can spend our time more productively.

Q: Can I make a conference call from my mobile? A: Yes, from anywhere in the world. All you will need is a telephone and a signal and it is a simple as that.

Q: How does it actually work? A: With the basic product, you are given a number for the participants to dial. They all dial in at the agreed time. Each participant enters a unique PIN code and when prompted, they record their name. Your PIN will open the bridge, their name is announced and everyone can communicate. You have the ability to record the call for playback to those who were absent (e.g. for training).

Q: What is so special about the advanced product? A: One of our customers uses this for their product development work. Their engineers and product laboratories dial in every week as per the standard product and they also have a web facility. This allows them to share documentation through their PC, as though they were passing papers across the table. This has drastically reduced their product launch timescales and costs. .

You will need to be prepared to invest quite a bit of money on getting the right equipment for establishing yourself as a work-at-home open source call centre assistant. It is also important to be wary about buying the right sort of equipment and high quality gear at that. The equipment needs to be built to a high standard and expected to last a decent amount of time, so automatically going with the cheapest options can often turn out to be a false economy.

The most expensive and also most important requirement is to have a computer. If you want to be on the move and have a little more flexibility with regards to where you work, then a laptop can be a great option. However, price-wise, desktops are still cheaper and are generally capable of more as well as being more upgradable. With computers as cheap as they are nowadays, this is not likely to be a particularly daunting investment considering all of the other things that you can use a computer for too. Since most people will already have an adequate computer system, this is unlikely to even be an issue.

The Internet connection required can be a slightly demanding requirement in some cases. For a call centre, you will need to have an adequate amount of bandwidth so you can use the Internet telephony / VoIP programs that you will need. This basically rules out any older 56k modem connections. Cable modem and DSL are generally adequate but bear in mind, any employers you might have might not permit certain types of connections.

You will also need to be able to use the Internet as well as the telephone line at the same time. This is typically not an issue if you have a broadband connection which is already a requirement anyway. There will likely be various requirements for the type of telephony hardware that you need for the job, depending on your employer.

All of the above are probably things you have already. Since so many people these days have at least one computer in their household and broadband Internet access, these are unlikely to become extra expenditures. However, you may well find it preferable to have a dedicated computer which only you have access to. Using the primary family computer as your primary work station is generally not a good idea for security and reliability reasons.

You will also need to spend a bit of money on a decent headset. Something that has a high quality noise cancelling microphone is a must. However, these are not too hard to find and do not cost a great deal of money. In fact, there is unlikely to be any reason why you would need to spend more than about $25 on this.

Your working environment should also be taken into account. Your employer will most likely require that you have a separate room to work in and no interruptions such as noisy air conditioning units etc. Simply put, there must be minimal background noises in your work place.

Nowadays, you can see voip telephone solutions just about anywhere at least any electronics place, that you go to. With the popularity of the internet, voip only seems natural as the next step in internet communications.

Obviously, in order to get yourself started in using voip service, you will definitely need a good high speed internet connection. Without a reliable internet connection, voip will just not function properly and you will end up with inferior performance.

One of the biggest benefits of using voip over a regular phone connection from your telephone company has to be the savings in price. For roughly the same prices as a land line, you can have a voip service with some excellent features such as caller id, voice mail, long distance, and more. And the people that you are calling do not need to have voip in order for you to get a hold of them.

Using a voip phone also allows you to take it with you when you are travelling to other places. All you need is an internet connection and you can use your phone. This means that if you are in a motel room with internet, you can plug your voip phone in and use it just like you are at home.

If you have someone that you call on a regular basis that is a long distance away and want to save some money on those calls, voip is another answer. Get two voip phones and send one to them. When they get theirs, you just need to have them plug it into their internet connection and you will now enjoy “local” calls with them. Talk as long as you like and do not worry about long distance charges.

Voip brings a huge amount of benefits to your phone communications. I believe that it may eventually replace the traditional line line services that we use today.

SafeSoft Solutions offers powerful predictive dialer solutions that can help you improve your revenues, raise funds, gather survey information, develop political support and much more. In order to do this you need to understand the rules and regulations that are enforced by the Federal Communications Commission or FCC and the Federal Trade Commission or FTC. So before you begin, there are two acts of congress that you should be familiar with.

Knowing these rules and regulations is not that difficult or time consuming. Surprisingly however, many companies operate in ways that are governed by these laws and never consider their impact. It is not unusual for a company to think of these laws as made for the telemarketing industry and not for us.

First is the Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act. This legislation defines telephone based business fraud and gives consumers protection and defense against unscrupulous business activity. The TSR or Telemarketing Sales Rule is a document that will help you understand what is considered unlawful by the FTC.

The second is the Telephone Consumers Protection Act or TCPA. This legislation regulates the use of outbound automatic telephone dialing systems, prerecorded or artificial voice messages, FAX machines and it creates a Do-not-call (DNC) list for consumers.

Here is a quick review to get you started toward a full understanding of the DNC list, do not consider this list a complete understanding of the TCPA or DNC;

The DNC covers calls made within your state and outside your state The database is maintained & administered by the FTC The FCC and FTC will coordinate DNC enforcement Consumers can register residential and wireless numbers DNC numbers no longer expire after 5 years of entry State-administered do-not-call lists must also be used Company-specific do-not-call lists must also be used B2B calls are not covered by the DNC Tax-exempt nonprofit organizations arent subject to the DNC list Calls regarding political and religious speech arent subject to the DNC list Calls regarding surveys arent subject to the DNC list Consumers on the DNC can receive your calls if they request it in writing Consumers on the DNC can receive your calls if you have an established business relationship within the last 18 months

Consumers on the DNC can receive your calls if they have inquired or applied to your business within the last 3 months

Businesses calling for tax-exempt organizations are subject to the DNC list The DNC covers all calls to consumers for the purpose of telemarketing, telephone sales or telephone solicitation not just those made from automatic dialers, predictive dialers, FAX machines or broadcast message machines. DNC data for up to five area codes annually is free, after that you must pay $54 per area code up to a maximum of $14,850. You must refresh your DNC data every 31 days.
